I am a BACP Registered counsellor and my approach is Person-Centred. I qualified in 2017 and have been building my own practice ever since. The vast and heavy commitment of training to be a qualified counsellor meant hundreds of hours training with many essays and case studies. I completed my training with the mental health charity Mind which gave me a wide experience of many different people, their difficulties and how these struggles affect daily lives so deeply.
Sadly, anxiety and depression seem to be best friends. My commitment is now with my own clients, and I love my job whole heartedly. It is a privilege to be alongside people on their journey to a more peaceful destination through the counselling process.
Welcome to The Claire Approach™.
I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, a proactive member of the Cumbria Chamber of Commerce for small businesses in Cumbria and I am affiliated with AXA insurance, Cigna Healthcare, Sparta Health, Optima Health and CiC.
"No journey of the mind is impossible, it's only a matter of navigation."
-The Claire Approach™
My place is yours, set in the heart of Highgate House in Kendal where our surroundings are safe and warm and where there is no judgement. A space where we can share and challenge the negatives and distresses in a person-centred way.
The counselling journey and the healing process is yours, supported by the trusting relationship we can build together. Private parking is available during your session.
Positive changes can come as a result of a trusting and authentic relationship. I will always be non-judgemental and transparent, and listen to you with empathy and understanding. I will be present for you and alongside you throughout. Initially sharing may be scary, although my hope is that you will start to feel more comfortable as we build our therapeutic relationship.
My ethical obligations are for you and for my profession. I work and adhere to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy Ethical Framework to ensure my work is of the highest standard. Confidentially is a top priority with all records containing personal data stored in compliance with the Information Commissioners Office to which I am a registered member.
I work on a flexible basis, inclusive of some evenings. I will do my best to accommodate your needs when making appointments, if I can. I will also give you as much notice as possible if I am unavailable. At times when I have little or no availability, I offer a waiting list by request, if I am unable to accommodate you initially. I note requests for availability due to late cancellations.
Your initial 30 minute session is offered free of charge, without obligation. I understand that sometimes the first step is often the biggest. All sessions thereafter last for one hour and effort will be made to book sessions to fit with your employment and commitments.
I offer a range of payment methods.
Face to face and telephone sessions are charged at £55 with a concessionary rate for full-time students and trainee counsellors of £50.
Couples counselling is offered at £75 per session.
Online sessions are also charged at the rates as listed above with the same concessionary rate.
